This wood carving of an Oak Tree wall hanging would make a special wood home decor gift. My tree carvings are carved from a single piece of wood. The Oak is one of my favorite kind of Trees to carve. These smaller tree carvings make wonderful gifts for so many occasions!! I don't carve that many of them in a year any more. I am retired now. I will be carving for as long as I can. I still love doing it!! It measures 13" tall x 7 3/4 wide x 1" thick. These trees have so much character!! It's hard to get a picture that really shows what these carvings look like in person. Please look at my feedback to see what customers have said about my work.

Each time you click the above picture you will go to another more detailed photograph of this piece. 5 pictures altogether.

I carved it out of a piece of Big Leaf Maple that has a great Curly grain. The grain is really something to look at! This grain is often called Fiddle Back. It is often used on the back of a fiddle. It is also revered in the electric guitars! It is very unusual and is very interesting to look at.

The technique I use is called Pierced Relief. It is carved out of one piece of wood and nothing is added. I have been carving since 1971 and a tree was the first carving I did. I have always been stimulated to carve a resemblance of a tree out of a tree. My technique has evolved over all of these years to what you see here. I keep seeing ways to make things more life like. And I love a piece to look like it is in the middle of a story that each observer can make up. Sometimes a different story each time we look at it and sometimes the same one. I love giving a piece the feeling of action. Sometimes tranquil and sometimes playful. I love it all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.

When will I get my purchased carving?

I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.

How will my carving be shipped?

I use Priority United States postal service mail.

Do you ship outside of the US?

I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
