Redwood Burl wooden heart personalized 5th wood Anniversary Gift
This is a Redwood Burl wooden wall Heart. It would make a sweet personalized 5th wood Anniversary Gift present idea. It's a very unique piece of wood. I hardly ever see Redwood Burl anymore. I am Gary Burns the treewiz and I carve everything in my shop. I can inscribe something personal on the back with no extra charge if it is something simple like a short sentence and date. I do this by hand with a Dremel. This piece comes ready to hang on the wall. It measures 18 1/4" tall x 15 3/4" wide x 2 1/2" thick.
This is a beautiful heart carving! I found this piece while I was digging through my wood room. It had made it through the shop fire 2 years ago. It was all charred. I was so amazed that it was Redwood Burl! This is a very old piece of Bur. Burl is usually caused by the trees reaction to an agro bacteria. The tree produces an abundance of buds that form the burl. Each bud could be a new branch if the tree needed another one. When sliced the wood displays many birds eyes in the grain. Redwood Burl is one of the most cherished grains. I just love it!! Love and Gratitude! That's what makes my world go round! : )
These hearts are each a unique piece. I don't use patterns and each piece of wood is of the highest quality. I don't take any short cuts when it comes to the materials that I use. I have been carving full time since 1978. I still love what I do. There is still something to be amazed about every day! That is what Life is all about to me. LOVE AND GRATITUDE!! :)

The grain is really kool in this piece. It is a rich reddish brown color reminiscent of Old Growth Redwood. I can hardly find figured Redwood any more and when I do, I usually can't afford to spend as much as they want for it. A figured piece can cost as much as I am asking for this piece. There was of course a great deal of burl back 20 years ago and before. The loggers would cut them off of the trees because the trunk wouldn't fit on the logging trucks if the burl were left on. But now most of that wood has been reclaimed from the forests and sent all over the world. So I really find it to be special.
Hearts represent Love and Acceptance. It would make an amazing gift for anyone or a well deserved gift for oneself.

Care instructions
All of my carvings have a lacquer finish. Dusting with a feather duster or blowing off with a compressor is all that is necessary on the carved trees, fish and carved faces. I use Orange oil on the smooth surfaces. This will perk them up. I would do it as often as you polish your furniture. Once a month would keep them looking great but is not necessary.
When will I get my purchased carving?
I will contact you as soon as I get your order. I will package it that day or the next. I take it to the Post Office the next morning. If I get an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday or Sunday it will be in Monday mornings mail.
How will my carving be shipped?
I use Priority United States postal service mail.
Do you ship outside of the US?
I do ship outside of the US. I need to know the carving that you are interested in and your complete shipping address. I will figure what it costs to ship to your address and make the changes to the listing so that you can make the purchase.
